GastroSystem vs. Wolt

Wolt works on commission. Depending on the model, around 17 % if you deliver yourself (order channel only), 25–30 % if Wolt couriers deliver, and up to 35 % for premium visibility or special terms. Payment fees come on top of that, per transaction. At €8,000 monthly revenue, that's €1,360–2,800 in pure commission. With your own ordering system at €269/month, your fixed costs sit at around 3.7 % of revenue instead of 17–35 %.

Step by step, with no gap in orders. Set up your menu in GastroSystem or import it via CSV, usually under an hour. Define your own delivery zones by postcode, even outside Wolt's radius. Place QR code and order link on the table, the receipt and a sticker on the packaging, and redirect regulars directly with a discount code. Wolt keeps running alongside for 4–8 weeks while you measure your own orders. Only once your own channel carries volume do you scale back or cancel Wolt, step by step. Hardware stays: your receipt printer and tablets keep working.

Wolt is only active in selected major German cities (Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and a few others). Mid-sized towns and rural areas are left out. If your restaurant isn't in a Wolt city, the platform isn't an option for you at all. Your own ordering system, on the other hand, runs nationwide, and you define the delivery zones yourself by postcode. Whether that's downtown Munich or a small town in the Allgäu.

Yes, that's even the recommended transition. Wolt brings reach and new customers in its cities, GastroSystem becomes the regulars channel with your own shop, push and discount promotions. Orders from both sources print on the same receipt printer. One kitchen, one workflow, but commission only where reach brings clear value. Once 60–70 % of orders come in direct, you can scale Wolt back significantly or cancel it altogether.

Wolt provides order and revenue reports in the restaurant backend, but no complete customer contact data. The guest's name, email and phone stay with the platform and aren't directly usable for your own marketing in the exports. Products, prices and menu structures you can take over manually or have us read in with an import tool. If you want to win over Wolt's regulars, you have to actively redirect them to your own channel at the point of order: receipt, QR code, flyer in the delivery, packaging. The platform won't hand them over.

No. Wolt is the guest's contractual partner and owns the customer relationship. You see orders and ratings, but no real contact data and no order history across devices. With your own ordering system, you have full GDPR-compliant access: name, email, phone, address, favourite dishes, order frequency. That's exactly the basis for push campaigns, birthday discounts and loyalty programs. All of which simply isn't structurally possible on Wolt.

Wolt couriers are professionally organized, but you hand control and service quality over to the platform. Delivery time, behaviour at the door and how packaging is handled aren't things you control. With the driver management built into GastroSystem, you have your own drivers with GPS tracking, route optimization and direct communication with the guest. For peak times, you can bring in external delivery services or platforms as backup. But your main delivery stays under your control.

Yes. The built-in till system signs through a BSI-certified cloud TSE, generates KassenSichV-compliant receipts, exports DSFinV-K for the tax authorities, and is GoBD compliant. The mandatory receipt requirement from 2026 is covered. Wolt is a pure order channel, not a till. You'd need a separate TSE till system on top and would have to integrate Wolt orders into your day-close logic manually. With GastroSystem, ordering, till, TSE and receipt printing are one solution.
