Delivery areas that can say “this street, but only up to number 49”

Your delivery area is an ordered list of rules. Each rule says where it applies — postcode, city, street with a house-number range, radius or a polygon on the map — and what applies there: delivery fee, minimum order and delivery time. Rules are checked top to bottom and the first match wins, so exceptions work properly: deliver to all of 60316 but not to numbers 1 to 49 of one street. A built-in address test shows you which rule wins before a guest finds out.

Order decides — and you set it

An address is checked against the list from top to bottom and the first matching rule applies. That is the difference between “some zone matches” and a delivery area you actually control: rules are dragged to the position where they should take effect. An exception you move above a rule beats it — left below, it never gets a turn. The list therefore shows each rule's position, so you can see the order your area is read in.

Combine conditions instead of multiplying zones

A rule can carry several conditions, and they all have to hold. “Street = Berger Straße” plus “postcode = 60316” matches that street in that postcode only. Within a single condition, on the other hand, any value will do: three postcodes in one condition means “any of these”. A rule with no conditions at all matches everywhere and makes a good last line for “everything else”.

Street and house number, odd and even

House-number ranges include their bounds and can be limited to odd or even numbers — on many streets the two sides belong to different neighbourhoods, and that is exactly where postcode zones fail. A number such as 12a is read by its digits. A house number without a street is refused: it would otherwise match number 12 on every street in town.

The address test answers the real question

With an ordered list, “which rule applies to this address” can otherwise only be answered by reading it from the top. So there is a test: type an address and you see whether you deliver, which rule won and on what terms. It runs the same matching a guest's address goes through later — not a model of it.

Start with the largest area

Create the rules covering the normal case — usually a handful of postcodes or a radius, each with its delivery fee, minimum order and delivery time.

Put exceptions above

Streets you do not serve, or serve on different terms, go in as their own rule above the general one — otherwise the general rule matches first and the exception never gets a turn.

Check the order and test it

Sort the list the way it should be read and run a few real addresses through the test — one in the middle of your area, one at the edge and one affected by an exception.

Frequently asked questions about delivery zones

Can I exclude individual streets or house numbers?

Yes, and that is the whole point of the rule list. You create a rule for the exception — say Hauptstraße 1 to 49 — mark it as excluded and move it above the general rule for that postcode. Because the list is checked top to bottom and the first match wins, the exception applies first. Left below the general rule it never gets a turn, which is why the order is visible and changed by drag and drop.

How do I combine street and postcode?

By putting both conditions in the same rule — conditions within a rule all have to hold. “Street = Berger Straße” and “postcode = 60316” matches that street in that postcode only. If you want to cover several streets, list them as multiple values in the same street condition, because within one condition a single match is enough.

Can odd and even house numbers be treated differently?

Yes. A house-number range can be limited to odd or even numbers, because the two sides of a street often belong to different neighbourhoods or postcodes. The bounds of the range count, and a number with a letter such as 12a is read by its digits.
