Cancel Lieferando and launch your own ordering system in 7 days
Every month on Lieferando costs an average pizzeria around €1,000 in commission. We show you how to switch to your own commission-free ordering system in a single week — without losing a single regular.
What does 'leaving Lieferando' actually mean?
A Lieferando switch means moving your online ordering business off the Lieferando platform and onto your own commission-free ordering page. You cancel your restaurant partner agreement with Just Eat Takeaway.com (Lieferando) in line with the notice period set out in the Lieferando terms, move your menu, opening hours and delivery zones into your own ordering system, and actively redirect your regulars to the new address. Typical notice periods are 30 days to end of month. With proper preparation, the switch is complete within seven working days — including menu import, payment integration, Google Business update and an internal soft launch.

The 7-day switching plan
We've tested this plan with more than 40 restaurant owners. You won't have to invest more than two hours on any single day — we handle the rest.
- Day 1 Kickoff
Kickoff call and inventory
A joint 45-minute call: your current Lieferando setup, menu scope, delivery zones, opening hours, payment methods, existing domain. By the end of the day we have everything we need for the import.
- Day 2 Menu
Menu import and photos
We take over your entire menu, including variants, sides, allergens and prices. Existing product photos are imported and optimised for mobile. You get a preview for sign-off the same evening.
- Day 3 Delivery zones
Delivery zones, pricing and payment setup
Delivery zones by postcode or radius, minimum order values, delivery fees, peak-time surcharges. Integration with Stripe or PayPal for online payments — payouts go straight to your account, with no platform in between.
- Day 4 Domain & SEO
Your own domain and Google Business Profile
We connect your existing domain (or register a new one) and update your Google Business Profile with the new ordering link. That brings in organic traffic from local Google searches right away — with zero platform dependency.
- Day 5 Hardware
Receipt printer setup and team training
Receipt and kitchen printers are set up so incoming orders land in the kitchen automatically. A one-hour training session for your team: accepting orders, cancellations, day-end closing. All POS functions are compliant with German fiscal rules (TSE).
- Day 6 Soft launch
Internal soft launch and test orders
You place internal test orders — from the click to the receipt printer. Together we check opening hours, break rules, holidays and the emergency kill switch. Small corrections are shipped the same day.
- Day 7 Go live
Go-live and regular customer activation
Go-live in the morning. In parallel, we send out your launch communication: SMS or email to existing customers, QR-code stickers for the counter, a flyer template for deliveries. From day 7 onwards, every order lands with you — commission-free.
What you save in 12 months — three scenarios
Realistic scenarios for a pizzeria, a kebab shop and a delivery restaurant. Basis: 13% Lieferando commission for self-delivering restaurants, GastroSystem flat fee of €299 net per month.
| Scenario | Lieferando (12 mo.) | GastroSystem (12 mo.) | Savings per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small takeaway — €3,000 online revenue / month | €4,680 | €3,588 | €1,092 |
| Mid-sized pizzeria — €8,000 online revenue / month | €12,480 | €3,588 | €8,892 |
| Larger delivery restaurant — €15,000 online revenue / month | €23,400 | €3,588 | €19,812 |
As of April 2026. Calculation: 13% commission × monthly revenue × 12 months vs. GastroSystem flat fee €299 × 12 months. With platform delivery (up to 30% commission), savings are significantly higher.
Cancellation checklist: how to leave Lieferando cleanly
Work through these five steps in order. This makes sure your cancellation is effective and that you transition seamlessly into running orders on your own system.
-
Check the notice period in your Lieferando contract
Your restaurant partner agreement sets out the notice period — usually 30 days to end of month (as of April 2026, Lieferando restaurant terms §10). Cancelling too early in the month doesn't extend the period; cancelling too late costs you an extra month. Check the exact wording in your own contract.
-
Submit cancellation in writing by email and registered post
Send your cancellation to the address named in your contract (typically
restaurants@lieferando.de) and by registered post to Just Eat Takeaway.com Germany. Two channels, one paper trail. Include your restaurant ID, address and the desired contract end date. -
Request and keep a written confirmation
Ask for a written confirmation that your cancellation was received and that the contract will end on the stated date. Without confirmation, the clock is running against you. We provide a cancellation template and a response tracker.
-
Plan an overlap — don't switch off too early
Only cancel Lieferando once GastroSystem is live. The two systems typically run in parallel for 7–14 days. Use that window to actively promote the new ordering channel to your regulars before the Lieferando page goes offline.
-
Outstanding invoices, statements and data export
Before the contract ends, pull your final statements, pending payouts and order data from the Lieferando back office. After the contract ends, access is restricted. Reviews and customer data belong to Lieferando — there is no legal path to migrate them into GastroSystem.
Five switching risks — and how we solve them
The most common reason restaurant owners stay on Lieferando is fear of switching. Here are the five real risks — and how GastroSystem handles each one.
Losing regular customers
Customers order on Lieferando because it's convenient. If you switch off, they may move to the next restaurant on the platform instead of following you.
Active migration instead of silent shutdown
We give you a ready-made SMS and email campaign, QR-code stickers for the counter and for orders, plus a Google Ads template. Typical recovery rate: 70–85% of existing customers in the first four weeks.
Losing SEO and Google visibility
Lieferando restaurant pages rank on Google — if that page disappears, your online ranking can disappear with it in the worst case.
Your own domain plus Google Business Profile
Your own domain and a properly set-up Google Business Profile send much stronger local signals than a platform listing. We set up structured data (restaurant schema, menu schema) automatically.
Google and platform reviews
Lieferando reviews belong to Lieferando and can't legally be exported. A switch can feel like starting from zero.
Google reviews are independent
Your Google Business reviews belong to you and stay in place — independent of Lieferando. GastroSystem has an automated review flow: after every order the customer is politely asked for a Google review.
Order history and customer data
Every Lieferando order belongs, in data terms, to the customer and to Lieferando — not to the restaurant. There's practically nothing you can export.
Your own data from day one
From go-live, all order data, customer addresses (with consent) and revenue land in your own dashboard. GDPR-compliant, with export functionality and full control over remarketing.
Technical outages and order volume peaks
Lieferando has a well-oiled system. Any self-hosted ordering system has to hold up on New Year's Eve and on Premier League nights too.
Cloud infrastructure with automatic scaling
GastroSystem runs on redundant cloud infrastructure. We scale automatically during peak loads. German data-centre location, 99.9% uptime SLA and 24/7 monitoring are standard — not a premium add-on.
Why restaurant owners stay after switching
GastroSystem isn't a platform clone. It's your own ordering and POS system — one you own, with a fixed price instead of a revenue share.
0% commission, €299 flat fee
Whether you take 100 or 10,000 orders per month, you pay €299 net. No transaction fee, no revenue share, no tiered pricing, no hidden add-on modules.
Direct payouts to your own account
Stripe or PayPal pay out directly to your business account — typically D+1. No 'Lieferando payout schedule', no security holds, no credit-note logic. Your revenue is your revenue.
Cancel monthly, no lock-in
No minimum contract term. If GastroSystem isn't right for you, cancel to the end of the month — no clawback, no exit fee. We want to convince you, not lock you in.
Frequently asked questions about leaving Lieferando
The eight questions restaurant owners ask us most often before switching.
Can I run Lieferando and GastroSystem in parallel?
Yes — and we actively recommend it. For the first two to four weeks, both systems run side by side. That gives you time to actively move your regulars to the new ordering channel and avoids a revenue dip. Only once GastroSystem is running stably and your customers have made the switch do you cancel Lieferando at the next permitted date.
How long is the Lieferando notice period?
Based on our review of the current Lieferando restaurant terms (as of April 2026), the standard notice period is 30 days to end of month. Meaning: if your cancellation arrives on, say, 10 May, the contract ends on 30 June. Always check the exact wording in your individual contract — special terms may differ.
What happens to my Google reviews?
Your Google Business reviews belong to you and stay in place unchanged. Only the platform-internal Lieferando reviews are tied to the Lieferando profile and can't be exported. Since Google reviews have far more impact on your revenue in local search than platform reviews, losing Lieferando reviews matters less in practice than it feels.
Do I lose my listing in the Lieferando search app?
Yes. Once the contract ends, your restaurant is removed from the Lieferando app and website. This loss is overrated: studies on the platform ecosystem (including the Bundeskartellamt report on the platform economy) show that most orders come from customers who search for your restaurant by name anyway — and those customers will find you via Google.
Who handles the menu import?
We do. Our onboarding team imports the entire menu — variants, sides, allergens and prices — within 24 hours of kickoff. You get a preview for sign-off on the evening of day two. Later changes take you less than a minute per product — or we'll handle them on request.
Will orders come in as reliably as on Lieferando?
Yes. Orders go straight to your receipt printer (we support Epson, Star and Citizen) and simultaneously into a tablet app for your team. Each new order triggers an audible alert; automatic acceptance or manual confirmation are both configurable. Failures are absorbed by a redundant setup in German data centres.
What does switching really cost — are there hidden fees?
The switch itself is free: no setup fee, no onboarding charge, no training fee. From go-live, you pay €299 net per month. Optional hardware (receipt printer, tablet) can be added on or bought separately; existing printers come with no additional licence cost. Payment providers like Stripe or PayPal have their own transaction fees, which are settled directly between you and the provider.
What if my regulars still want to order via Lieferando?
That happens in the first few weeks for some customers. Our communication templates are designed for exactly this: a 10% voucher for the first order on the new system, visible QR codes in the packaging, and a friendly note on the delivery receipt. In our experience, 70–85% of regulars switch within the first four weeks; the rest follow once Lieferando is turned off.
